Owen Surprenant Hudson, NH Obituary, Death: Town Of Hudson Recreation Department Mourns his Passing

Owen Surprenant Hudson, NH Obituary, Death

The Town of Hudson Recreation Department is mourning the heartbreaking and unexpected loss of Owen Surprenant — a young man who was not only part of our programs, but part of our family.

Owen grew up on our fields and courts here in Hudson, playing recreation soccer and basketball from his earliest years through his high school graduation in 2025. Like so many of our athletes, he learned the value of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship within our programs. But what made Owen truly special was his decision to return — not for recognition, not for accolades, but to give back.

Watching children grow through our system and later step forward as mentors is one of the most meaningful experiences in community recreation. Owen embodied that full-circle journey. As a current recreation basketball coach, he became the kind of role model every young athlete deserves: patient, encouraging, and deeply invested in his players’ growth both on and off the court. He led with quiet confidence and genuine care, earning the respect and admiration of the children and families he served.

Just three weeks ago, Owen sat down to share his excitement about the future. He spoke passionately about developing the 7th–8th grade boys basketball program next season. He brought thoughtful ideas, creative energy, and a sincere desire to make the experience better for the next generation coming up behind him. That conversation now stands as a powerful reflection of his character — forward-thinking, selfless, and devoted to his community.

His passing leaves a profound void in our recreation department and throughout the town. When someone grows up in our programs, they become woven into the fabric of who we are. Owen’s journey — from young athlete to dedicated coach — represents the very heart of our mission. His influence will live on in every practice run, every encouraging word shared on the sidelines, and every young player who steps onto the court believing they can improve because someone believed in them.

On behalf of the Hudson Recreation Department, we extend our deepest condolences to Owen’s family, his friends, his former teammates, and the players he coached. We hold you in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Owen’s chapter in our story will never be forgotten, and his legacy of kindness, leadership, and service will continue to inspire our community for years to come.
