The Epicure & Jack’s Tavern family is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Katie Malachinski, a cherished member of their team whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and light into the lives of everyone around her.
Katie was far more than an employee — she was family. From the moment she walked into a room, she had a way of lifting the energy around her. Her smile could shift the mood of an entire shift, and her laughter echoed through the bar even on the busiest, most stressful nights. She had a rare gift: the ability to make people feel better simply by being herself.
Known for her quick wit and perfectly timed under-the-breath comments, Katie kept her coworkers smiling no matter how chaotic things became. Her humor, her expressive “resting face,” and her collection of hilarious graphic t-shirts are memories her team will forever treasure. She made hard days easier and good days even brighter.

Beyond her humor, Katie was one of the most dependable and hardworking individuals her colleagues had ever known. She took pride in her work, showed up consistently, and was always ready to jump in wherever help was needed. Her dedication and reliability never went unnoticed.
But perhaps what defined Katie most was her heart. She showed up for people. She listened without judgment. She loved deeply and fiercely. She made her friends feel valued and important, and she built bonds that went far beyond the workplace.
Her absence leaves an undeniable void at Epicure & Jack’s Tavern. The bar will not feel the same without her laugh, her energy, and the joy she carried so naturally. Yet her spirit remains woven into the fabric of the place she helped make special.
As family, friends, and coworkers mourn this tremendous loss, they hold tightly to the memories she gave them and the love she shared so freely. Plans for a Celebration of Life will be shared in the coming days.
Katie Malachinski will forever be part of the Epicure & Jack’s Tavern family and the hearts of all who knew her.
Rest easy, Katie. You are deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
